Suicide Prevention Training for Community Members (Gatekeepers)
Community members come from many walks of life and can play a role in preventing suicide.
A gatekeeper is anyone who may have contact, even inadvertently, with a person at risk of suicide- essentially everyone is a gatekeeper.
When gatekeepers know how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and connect with a person at risk to get them help, the safety net for members of the community is strengthened.
Designated a National Best Practice program, Connect training utilizes a unique community-based model that increases the competence and confidence of community members in preventing suicide.
This training is the foundation of all the Connect trainings. Included is a review of National Best Practice suicide prevention/intervention protocols specific to community gatekeepers, interactive case scenarios and discussion on how to integrate key community services for an effective and comprehensive response to individuals at risk.
